The Ukrainian Nazi Laborator Jakiw Palij died at the age of 95 in an old people’s home in the German city of Ahlen.

This is what the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports on Thursday. The former guard of the Polish concentration camp Treblinka was delivered last year by the United States. He lived there since 1949 and was given US nationality eight years later.

A judge in New York took Palij back that citizenship in 2005 and ordered his expulsion. Germany refused to take him for years, until August 2018.

Palij had denied Nazi sympathies. He said in 1941 that he had been forced by the SS to train in the notorious center of Trawniki in eastern Poland. He claimed never to have worked in a death camp, but only to have patrolled.
